Today I want to show you one of the first Christmas cards I've made this season ...
Maybe it's a little early to start posting Holiday themed cards, but I've recently bought this cute Christmas Lights Snail image in Meljen's shop and I couldn't wait any longer to create something with it.
I loved coloring the digi very much although I realize it's not perfect, but I struggled so much composing the card and there are a couple of things that went wrong, oh well, imperfections can be charming too I hope ;-)

Gisteren ben ik naar een Tango-show gaan kijken in Gent. De voorstelling was getiteld "Broken Tango" en was erg de moeite !! Ongelooflijk hoe die mensen kunnen dansen, gewoonweg prachtig ! Zeker een aanrader !!
Maar nu over naar m'n kaartje van vandaag. Ik wilde deze keer eens een kaartje maken met wat stiksels of geborduurde accenten erop. Ik had al op verschillende blogs prachtige creaties gezien en wou het dan ook zelf eens uitproberen. Voor een eerste poging is het vermoed ik vrij goed gelukt. Het gebruikte papier is van Lilly Bee Design, het afdrukje komt van Action en is ingekleurd met copics. Ben benieuwd wat jullie er van vinden ...
Hier is dan het 'projectje' waar ik het gisteren al eventjes over had... (scroll down for English please)
Deze mini-boekjes bestaan uiteraard al in verschillende vormen, formaten en kleuren, dus nieuw of vernieuwend is het zeker niet. Maar ik was op zoek naar een manier waarop ik m'n (kerst-)brieven eens op een originelere manier kon versturen naar m'n pennevrienden en dit is het uiteindelijk geworden. Mijn ontwerpje is gebaseerd op een video-tutorial die ik hier gevonden heb.
Ik heb m'n creatie de titel 'Christmas Mini Gift Book' gegeven, omdat dit boekje voornamelijk gemaakt is rond het thema Kerst, maar het kan uiteraard ook voor vele andere doeleinden gebruikt worden.
Omdat foto's hier niet het hele project kunnen omvatten heb ik ook nog een korte video gemaakt ...
(het is m'n allereerste video-upload, dus alles voelt nog een beetje onwennig ...)

So, here is the little 'project' I had been talking about yesterday...
I'm well aware that these mini-books are not *new* at all. They can be found in many different forms, designs and colors. But I was trying to find a way in which I could send my letters to my pen pals in a more original way and this is how I will send them for the Holiday Season. My mini-book is based on a video tutorial that I found right here.
I've called my creation 'Christmas Mini Gift Book' because I decorated it mainly in a Christmas theme, but of course it can be used (or made) for many other purposes.
Because I can't show every detail using pictures, I decided to add a short video ...
(it was my very first video upload ever, so I felt a little unsure at moments...)

Dit weekend heb ik heel wat geoefend met mijn nieuwe Copic Ciao markers
en een tijdje terug had ik deze lieve stempel van Gorjuss gekocht ...the
owl...en wilde er graag een kerstkaartje mee maken, ik heb de layout vrij
eenvoudig gehouden, zodat de stempel volledig tot zijn recht komt.
Zelf ben ik vrij tevreden van mijn allereerste creatie met
deze ingekleurde stempel...ik hoop dat jullie hem ook leuk vinden.
Later zal ik nog zien of ik eventueel kan mee doen met
enkele challenges, maar ik wilde dit zo vlug mogelijk op m'n blogje krijgen

Today I made another Christmas card, using the only Christmas cardstock I have from lilybeedesign and one of the few Christmas sentiments I have bought so far ...I don't have any of those overly popular copic markers or aquamarkers yet ..(hope to buy some soon cause they must be sooo much fun to work with)
I'm actually fairly new with crafting and all things well considered (using basic materials) and having not much experience, I think my first design, based on a sketch from christmaschallenges.blogspot.be, hasn't turned out too bad in the end ...
Of course, I still need to learn a lot of techniques and expand my craft supplies in the future, but I'll take my chances and participate in a few challenges with this card :
When I scrolled through all the wonderful creations of other participants, I know my chances to win are about non-existing, but I wanted to give it a try anyway, just for fun :)

I can't wait to hand it over to them on Christmas Eve :)
I know it's still a while until the festive days, but I wanted to be well prepared for a change ;-)
Materials I used for the card :
the snowman is from Nellie Snellen, Lines & Dots LD009
for the background I used the remains of some cardstock from Action Shop
the Christmas sentiment stamp I used is also from Action Shop - a bargain I found a few weeks ago !!
and the snowflake on the top left corner is from Nellie Snellen, the Fancy Die FD010
This is all new to me, but I'm going to try and participate in a few card challenges from now on...
